I am PASSIONATE about gratitude! I think it is so important to practice gratitude every single day! The Bible says so, too:
Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything… – Ephesians 5:19-20
I have a personal discipline of writing down five things I’m grateful for each night. SO, in honor of gratitude AND as we lead up to a whole day dedicated to gratitude, I will be posting 5 things each day until Thanksgiving that I am grateful to God for at First Trinity. Here’s day #1:
- For Conny (that’s her, above), the custodian at First Trinity. She cleans with thorough attention and consistency. So many comment on our beautiful facility, thanks to her work!
- For our website. It is such high-quality, especially for a site that is managed totally by a volunteer (Joe Zimmerman). Zip him a note to thank him!
- For
Gordy–who shows up week after week at Kingdom Quest (Sunday school for Grades 1-5, weekly at 10am). Gordy–who gets in all kinds of messes– helps the kids know that God is with them EVERY DAY!
- For our Ministry Council: Jon Morris (President), Steve Cramer, Jennifer Tresch, Kim Kwietniewski, Carolyn Doster, Kevin Cross and Russ Wynia. They look after the Big Picture for First Trinity–policy and financial decisions. Please keep them in your prayers!
- For our Food Pantry. We have people who come in every week (sometimes every day!) for food. What a blessing to be able to give it to them. If you’d like to donate, we’d love to have it!

Hey Sue thanks for the shout. I like reading your blog and want you to know that there are people out there “listening”. I can imagine that sometimes it feels like you are shouting out into the desert and no one is listening. Hey – “A voice crying in the wilderness”, that sounds very familiar.
Keep reminding people of our website and I’ll keep up the labor of love!!

Thanks, Joe–good to know that people are listening! And also, thanks again for all your work!

Sue, I think this is a great practice and ever since you mentioned it in the 4 Great Psalms class I’ve been trying it out as well. I don’t journal nightly, I’m more of a MySpace blogger
but I have every night been writing down 5 things on an index card and then put them in a small card file I have. It’s great! Somedays are better than others and when I’m having a not so good day I can pull out my cards and remind myself the things I’m grateful for everyday! It’s awesome! Thanks for mentioning such a great thing. You rock and I’m sure that I can speak for everyone at FT when I say we are so grateful for all that you do as well
