We had several visitors in worship last Sunday (11/25/2007). I love that! There was one that really stood out for me, though: Paris. Don’t know his last name. Paris lives in a facility operated by Aspire and works four hours a day as a law clerk. Paris received a mailing about worship and education opportunities at First Trinity from Sandra Rice, who works as Parish Ministry Consultant with Bethesda Lutheran Homes & Services in Partnership with: LCMS Eastern District, LADD, LSS of NY & Pioneer Camp. Sandra wrote about the experience in her weekly Disability Awareness e-newsletter.
Paris decided to come to church.
Paris WALKED to First Trinity on Sunday from Kenmore Avenue and Colvin Blvd (five miles, according to googlemaps). View Larger Map You might remember how chilly it was Sunday morning.
Paris attended Bible Class (Ilene Polley’s on The Ways of God–meets in Grace), attended worship with Karen Leone and was given a ride home by Kim Kwietniewski. When Kim was thanked for giving Paris a ride home, here’s what she said:
I can’t believe the determination Paris had shown to get to our church to worship. I am humbled and embarrassed to admit the mornings I have not come to church because I have not “felt like it”. This man has shown a much greater commitment to the Lord than I and I can only work toward being “Paris”…..
Amen, Kim! I sure hope Paris comes back this Sunday…our community is richer for his presence!
