The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) – Tutorial
I will be teaching kids the Lord’s Prayer in sign language in the Children’s Messages over the next few weeks (running alongside Pastor Chuck’s sermon series…get yesterday’s here). We can pray with our bodies as well as with our voices. I so appreciate it when the congregation “plays along” and does what I ask during the Children’s Message…it is so important that the kids get the feel of the community teaching them the things of faith, not just the “professionals”. So if you were there yesterday, putting your thumb on your forehead for the kids–THANKS!!!

The sign for “forgive” looks like it’s the sign for “clean.” How cool is that?

It’s way cool! I remember that from a VBS song one summer.

I’m trying to find the song we had from Group several years ago…Our Father, Our Father, do you remember it? We taught all the signs with it…I thought it would be cool to teach it in Kingdom Quest too, but I can’t find the copy of it. Do you know if Group or Word has a place to download music? I just love it when our Kingdom Quest lessons match up with church!

My six year old knows how to recite this and would be thrilled to learn it in sign. I have pictures of it in sign, but seeing a video is so helpful. I am glad you found this and posted it….and I discovered your site.

Welcome–come back anytime! What a great idea to teach it to your child in sign!

I want so much to be able to teach my Sunday School Class and Childrens Church to sign prayers and maybe a few very simple Christian Songs. I can not afford awhole lot and I am new at this. What do you suggest I start at? I would love to have the kids first learn John 3:16 (NKJ Version) can you help me? Thank you so much and God Bless your works!

Diana…I’m no sign language expert, but YouTube is a great resource. If you go to YouTube.com and type “John 3:16 sign language” in the search box, you’ll find something! Here’s one that came up:
