A funny thing I’ve noticed: parents would like to talk with their kids about God, but they don’t feel “qualified”. Actually not funny–too bad!
- Somehow we have given parents the idea that they need to know a lot about the Bible to talk to their child about God, rather than giving them the tools and the freedom to share their own journey with God.
- Somehow, we have given parents the idea that if they drop their kids off at Kingdom Quest, the “experts” will teach them what they need to know about God’s Word, rather than Kingdom Quest building on the regular conversation kids are already having at home about life with Jesus.
- Somehow, we have given parents the idea that there is someone “better” who can tell their kids about Jesus rather than understanding that God has given their child the best teacher of all: his or her parent.
Everyday Faith is a ministry at First Trinity that exists to equip parents to nurture everyday faith in Jesus. We know for sure that parents are the key faith-sharers for their kids (for better or for worse). Wendy Morris (Everyday Faith Team Leader) and her crew are passionate about helping parents do that in a fun and natural way–part of the everyday fabric of each family’s life. Everyday Faith events happen at several key points in the life of children.
Starting on Sunday March 30th, during the Education Hour (10:00 – 11:00am), 3rd graders (and 4th graders who didn’t do it last year) and their parents are invited to attend the Everyday Faith “My Bible” event. This event is led by Marsha Peth and Pam Stone! Kids and parents will dig through the Bible together, using games and food and drama and F.U.N. to look at God’s Word together. If you are the parent of a third grader, or you know a family that has a third grader, you can download the welcome letter and the registration form here. Let the fun begin!!!

I’m so excited about this. I remember last year there was a lot of questions about the logistics of it all and how it would affect KingdomQuest… and then it was very awesome to be a casual bystander and see the planners create something that was so rich and lavish and fun and deep and **quality**. Programs like this make our whole church better.
