You may have noticed there are new hymnals (Called “Lutheran Service Book”) in the pews at church. Here’s some fun things to know about them:
- They were given by the congregation to the glory of God in thanksgiving for the 35 year service of Ruth Kovach as choir director and organist
- There are fewer of them–we may get more, in the future
- There are prayers inside the front cover for your use in worship:
- On entering a church
- Before worship
- After worship
- Before confession and absolution
- Before communing
- Thanksgiving after receiving the sacrament
I love assisting with Holy Communion, but I also enjoy it when I don’t and I get more of a chance to pray in the pew when I get back to my seat. Before I commune I say “I’m sorry” to God. When I get back, I say “Thank You” to God for His forgiveness.
Hey- if you’re interested in one of the old hymnals for use at home, let me know. You can have one!

Sue, can you put one of those old blue books aside for me? or give it to my mom?
