Sunday Night Mind Dump

  • After my post yesterday about Spring coming to First Trinity, I had to laugh when I got up this morning and it was snowing!
  • I was greeting people in the main entrance before the Education Hour (10am) and when one family came in she said her two year old shouts with excitement when he sees First Trinity: “There’s our church!” and today he shouted “I am excited to go to Sunday School!” and Mom replied, “I am, too!” Love it!
  • Our lovely Ruth Kovach was worshiping in the front row at 8:45 today. She goes from the very back of the room (on the organ bench) for 35+ years to the very front! :-) Doreen Sutherland has been doing a bang-up job on the organ the last couple weeks!
  • Love seeing the “Sending Cloth” on the altar…don’t forget to pray for our 24 missionaries serving in New Orleans this week…they are working to help people whose homes were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. They are sleeping at eating at Camp Restore.
  • The children’s message was a Spirit-filled moment. Megan Kwietnieswski singing “The Lord’s Prayer” was stunning, but that wasn’t it. The kids doing the sign language was powerful, but that wasn’t it. Having two boys there on their first Sunday of church after being adopted from Haiti up with all the kids and doing the sign language was unbelievable, but that wasn’t it, either. You know what it was? It was all of those things, centered on the words of Jesus, all of us praying with our hands, with our hearts, with Megan’s sweet voice. Only the Spirit could orchestrate that one.
  • Ran into several kids who had taken part in the Youth Talent Show on Friday. I had to leave before the show part started but everyone I talked to said they were awesome. It was fun telling the kids that.
  • It is a strange thing to be incredibly joy-filled about two boys arriving from Haiti and at the same time have so much concern for those who are still on their way (Wisken, Lovelie, Danny). Things are not great in Haiti right now. Please especially pray that the Isidor family will be able to obtain food for themselves and for the 33 orphans in their care. God is the Great Provider.
  • Got up to Everyday Faith My Bible just in time to watch all the parents stand up, gather their child (or grandchild) near to them, but their hand on their head and bless them, calling them by name and saying: You are a special child, both inside and out. May you always know that God is your Rock and may you serve the Lord with joy. WOW. Doesn’t get better than that.
  • Fun to be with the Kingdom Quest kids today and especially loved singing with them.
  • Heavy teaching week for me: Water, Come Down on Monday night and Servant Leadership on Tuesday night. FUN FUN FUN!!

Sue-
Found time just before breakfast to read your list of joys. It started my day out right. I am joyful that our trip to New Orleans was safe and our first day was fruitful. We are split into 5 different teams working at different sites. Marcia and I learned how to install new electrical outlets! Camp Restore is an amazing place. Lots of New Yorkers here too. So glad to read your blog and keep in touch. God is good! Karen

Oh, Karen!! You made my morning to find your comment on the blog today. We prayed for you al lin class tonight and will keep doing so. Tell my prayer partner, Mike Kinsella, that I am praying for him several times a day. Thanks for being God’s instrument, Karen!
