Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run;
hurry and scurry puts you further behind. -Proverbs 21:5 (MSG)

Jason and I met today to talk through together what major pieces we have to do to get ready for the Fall and what our summers look like. He is gone for a lot of July (some vacation, some Workcamp), I’m gone a lot of August (Leadership Summit Conference at Willow Creek, KINDLE Learning Event, LCMS Theological Convocation and Lily’s birthday in Minnesota).  Not sure it’s a good idea to let the world know one’s “to do” list, since then the world will know the things I didn’t get done, but here’s my tasks (along with the people on the teams I work with) to get ready for Fall 2008:

Recruitment:

  • Large Group Team Leader for Kingdom Quest
  • Supply Team Coordinator for Kingdom Quest
  • Team Leader for Adult Growth Classes
  • Regrouping and recruiting for Ushers, Greeters, Welcome Center and Parking Lot Greeters (A-Team)

Program Planning

  • Training for front-line worship volunteers
  • Planning for Education Hour Volunteers Blast-Off on September 9
  • Rally Day (September 7) planning
  • Write the first lesson for the Kingdom Quest year
  • Writing Everyday Faith events with Wendy Morris
  • Design the “Bible BIGS” Short Course that starts October 7
  • Design the Servant Leadership section that starts October 20
  • Design the Women’s Retreat and build a planning team (retreat is November 7-9 at LCLC)

I’d like to write more, but I think I better get CRACKIN’!!

PS Do you think God might be calling you to any of the positions above? Give me a shout and we’ll talk about it!
